Room to Runway

Posted on: Tuesday, April 17, 2012

I've mentioned before that fashion and decor are hopelessly intertwined in my mind. I'm trying out a new little series "Room to Runway" where I'll translate a physical space into a fashion ensemble. Above is my first interpretation.
I immediately was drawn in by the juxtaposition of the neutral palette with pops of color. The major focal point is the over sized Harland Miller print above the fireplace (check out similar prints by Harland Miller here). This element is translated into the statement skirt (with additional pops of color in the shoes and necklace to maintain visual interest). The room's chandelier is mimicked by the silhouette of the bib necklace. The black fireplace and chair legs anchor the image so I chose a pair of primarily black flirty shoes to do the same for the outfit. The watch, T, and bag are kept neutral to play on the wall color, fireplace mantel, flooring and upholstery.

What do you think of the new series? If you do a "Room to Runway" let me know- I'd love to check it out!

I LOVE this idea. You are way too talented to be "blogging"! You should be in NYC! What a creative way to look at decor as well as fashion. Keep it up! - Abby
