Nothing Ruins Your Friday Like...

Posted on: Tuesday, April 30, 2013

Realizing it's only Tuesday.

My friend sent me a version of that quote the other week and it was probably the best morning text I've ever woken to. Starting the day with fits of laughter was such a treat.
I actually hit the ground running yesterday and got a ton done! Don't you love that feeling? I find I'm more productive when I hand write a list then physically check off or cross out items (yesterday I checked off and did a strike through with red marker... easy tiger).  I'm always sure to toss in some "freebies" to pad my list a bit.  Sometimes tackling a few "easy" things can get you warmed up and ready for those pesky challenges that lie ahead.

How do you ensure a productive day at work? I'd love to know your strategies!

Spring hasn't quite sprung but I'm ready.  I chose simple feminine pieces with varying price points for the above look.  The striped peplum top is from Target, the white jeans and cork clutch are J.Crew Factory finds and the shoes are an Alice & Olive splurge!

Throw and go.

You just can't go wrong with black and white whether is photography, interiors, or an ensemble.
This is the type of look I love. Comfortable and quick. Literally throw on and run out the door. The ZARA dress is the perfect price point and actually has great shape (the type of silhouette you're comfortable in for an entire evening). The necklace is so bold your left with little to no effort on the accessorizing end. Simple little black clutch, a ring, and done. Love the open sides on the heels, but you could easily swap out a dressy sandal.

Happy Wednesday Loves!

Can I cook? No. Can I bake? Not really. Do I use my oven for storage? Yes.
Having said that I am constantly pinning kitchens. I love the rustic vibe and colorful cabinetry of the  above image; also, any room full of fresh hydrangeas is a space I want to be in.  I pulled together a couple of whimsical items that would fit perfectly in this space. How cute are the little duck feet print napkins?  I actually own a few of the ceramic bowls (but I store necklaces in them), and I "need" the hand painted giraffe measuring cups! I also found a similar pair of measuring hedgies- too cute.  The Kitchen Aid mixer comes in a plethora of color options and is actually on sale here.  Lastly, the rose gold flatware is going to happen. I mean honestly, what else am I going to cut my pizza with? Quack Quack... Take Me Back To ACK

Posted on: Sunday, April 21, 2013

Yes, I realize geese honk but then the title of my post wouldn't rhyme sooo... anyway
Have you seen the Clarks Spring 2013 campaign perfectly styled by Sarah Clary? It makes me crave a  getaway to Nantucket immediately- my trip over Labor day weekend last year was much too short! I'd definitely pack the Clarks Dunbar Racer Loafers in white if I were headed away.  The video below is so cute! Hope you like it as much as I do:

So ready for vibrant colors, comfortable ensembles, and leisurely summer days.
Obsessed with the shoes and by far the most reasonable price ($47.99) I've come across for one of the hottest silhouettes this season.
I also chose to incorporate items that are currently on sale for 20% off!  The cuff,  AG white jeans (summers ultimate staple and a brand I SWEAR by), necklace, and bag are all 20% off when  you use the code WEAREFAMILY13 at checkout! Sale runs through today and tomorrow so click those images below to be taken straight to the site.

A little English charm in Stockholm

Posted on: Tuesday, April 16, 2013

I loved stumbling upon this charming apartment in Stockholm.  The classic design elements and color scheme make it feel elegant yet accessible.  Covering the entryway with a curtain of fabric is genius.  The little black and white striped storage bench balances nicely against the black frames on the floor to ceiling gallery wall.  Now, just lose the gold Ugg's (literally UGH!) and this image would be perfect.

Classic design elements, continue in the kitchen as does the juxtaposition of blues paired against black and white. The wallpaper... I "need" it.
How quaint is the sitting area? Thick bold horizontal stripes work perfectly with the small scale checkered fabric in the kitchen.  I'm all about horizontal lines... not a fan of vertical- makes me feel trapped.
A lovely example of how to utilize a consistent color palette to create a cohesive look in a small living space. Do you agree?

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I had lots of girl time and some fun in the sun. Above, a little outfit that would transition nicely in the warm weather from day to tonight.

Cheers to the weekend!

This is pretty much my perfect picture! Pink dress- yup. Bubbly- double yup.
I'm a creature of habit and rarely, if ever, drink wine. It's beer or bubbly for me. My absolute favorite libation is a Kir Royale (very light on the the Chambord, must be a light pink  hue).  I introduce the drink to everyone I know and my best friend can never remember the name and has referred to it as a  "Crown Vic" on multiple occasions- priceless.
What's your drink of choice? Do tell!
Happy Weekend

Summer Baubles

Posted on: Thursday, April 11, 2013

I love switching out to what I consider to be summer jewelry. Big chunky versatile pieces are usually my go to, and I'm currently drawn to blues and greens. Seriously crushing on every piece above.  Also loving the lucite trays (similar here) to corral and display favorite pieces.  How do you store your jewelry? I have most of my necklaces in decorative Anthropologie bowls.

Happy Hour Please!

Posted on: Wednesday, April 10, 2013

This afternoon I have a little happy hour with friends to celebrate a new position for one of the girls I work with.  In my pretend world I would LOVE to wear the above outfit. In reality, I'll  be rushing to join the group after I finish coaching lacrosse. So no, this will not be the look; but it would be lovely if it was...
Happy Wednesday

A Perfect DIY

I gave a piece of art away to the little one (my sister) and have been a little stumped as to what should go in the empty space. Then I stumbled on this piece, by Oliver Jeffers.  Hello lover. I adore this idea and think it would be an easy and affordable DIY. Just find a vintage piece and paint away!
Would you ever try this?

Take Me Away.... Casa Olivi

Posted on: Monday, April 8, 2013

This 300 year old farmhouse in the Le Marche region of Italy was rebuilt and transformed into a modern living space.  The transformation took four years after the estate nearly burnt to the ground. The exterior has been preserved while the interior has a minimalist  aesthetic.

So calming... perfect imagery for a Monday morning.

Imagine my surprise when I sat down with my milk and cookies after a long week to write my Friday post.  I glanced over and did a complete double take when I saw 699 in my post count.
What?
This little blog has become such a part of my routine and a favorite outlet of mine. But I wanted take this moment to thank everyone for all of the support along the way! I hope you enjoy following along on this little adventure with me. Your tweets, comments, and emails mean so much to me! I know this blog is about my style and design preferences, but I really do value your input and feedback.
Is there anything you want to see more of? Less of? Let me know
Happy Friday and thanks for reading.

Is it spring yet?

Posted on: Tuesday, April 2, 2013

I'm patiently waiting for spring weather and finally enjoying the outdoors again.
I love the ivory painted brick and cedar shake roof on the exterior of the above home.  Also, those exposed beams... the rustic element pairs perfectly with the roof. I would prefer a cobblestone driveway but hey, beggars can't be choosers.
I'd like to believe that the below image is tucked somewhere within this estate...

An outdoor oasis primed for the absolute, most perfect evening. A few libations and a spirited game of ping pong- I'd be a happy girl; unless I lost... then there could be issues ;)
