1/2/3/4

Kitchen Love.
I've been focusing a bit more on my kitchen as of late.  Updating my utensil holder, styling the counters and making food storage more presentable with mason jars.  I'm hoping to inspire myself to enjoy cooking a bit more. I do like baking and have been thinking about investing in one of these mixers below. Do you have one? Do you use it often? What color do you like? I think maybe white, dark green or navy.

Is there anything in your kitchen you can't live without?

Holiday Sparkle on Sale

Posted on: Wednesday, December 11, 2013

Have you checked out the sale items over on Tory Burch. Lots of sparkle on major sale! I'm debating which color to get the Vesper top in (black or the pink hue top of page).  I also LOVE the Dina sweater.  The lace actually ends up feeling a little tough to me since it's black and lined everywhere except the sleeves. Love the peekaboo effect and think it would be perfect paired with everything from leather pants and jeans to skirts.  What's your favorite piece? Shop mine below

Not on sale but check out the crystal bow pump... I'm so on board.

Black and White in the Budoir

Posted on: Thursday, December 5, 2013

Recently I've been pinning a lot of black and white color schemes- which I'm totally surprised by because I wouldn't naturally think of it for a bedroom. I think it's so crisp and clean and an easy look to get your man on board with. What do you think?  Biscuit Home bedding has some great black ans white choices. I've also added a few more elements below.

What are you reading?

Posted on: Tuesday, December 3, 2013

I went to see the Hunger Games movie with my family over Thanksgiving.  Afterwards I impatiently decide I needed to know how it ends. Cut to me reading the entire final book in one sitting.
I'm very cool.
Anyway, I simply haven't made enough time lately for reading. Then, today I was invited to join a book club. Coincidence? I think not. So I ask you, what are you reading? Any recs?
Happy Tuesday!

Pop, Fizz, Clink! Hello Holidays!

Posted on: Wednesday, November 20, 2013

Woohooo!
I'm getting so excited for the holidays, so I decided to put together a little festive ensemble for a night out.  I like changing things up and not necessarily sticking to traditional holiday color schemes. I chose the soft palette above and punched it up with sparkle and a bold patterned clutch.  One of my favorite elements (aside from the full skirt) is the shoe clip! Such an easy way to dress-up your look. Would you wear it?

My absolute favorite is the backgammon set! It's shot to the tippy top of my wish list since I grew up playing it all the time with my mother. I've always wanted my own set and this one fits me perfectly. Now I just need to decide, blue or pink? What do you think?

What do you think about the boyfriend coat? I found this version below and liked the color offerings and the price $196.00

Resort 2014

Posted on: Tuesday, November 5, 2013

1/2

If you are like me, then you have been obsessing/stalking the release of the Tibi paint splatter full skirt ever since seeing it on Joanna Hillman during NYFW.  I have been scouring the new arrivals and quickly scooped it up today the second I saw that it went live (I went with the black and white colorway)!  The entire Spring Resort Collection is flawless but I love the juxtaposition of the demure silhouette of the full skirt set against the avant garde Jackson Pollock inspired print. It truly feels like a piece of art.

Diptyque Candles- Fiftieth Anniversary

Posted on: Tuesday, October 15, 2013

Are you a fan of Diptyque candles? For over fifty years they have been made in Paris with painstaking attention to detail (I really enjoyed learning about the process here) While I'm not usually one for scented candles (terrible allergies-- such a geek) I do love many of the ways I see the jars repurposed. Fresh flowers, pencils, makeup brushes, q-tips, and cotton swabs are a few of the most common.

I'm actually allergic to flowers so that takes perfume, romantic gestures, and most candles off the table for me. I can tolerate hydrangeas and small amounts of roses, so I'm wondering If I might be able to burn one of the candles that isn't too floral?
Below, I've rounded up offerings from each scent family:

Floral scents

Fruity scents

Woody scents

Herbal scents

Do you use Diptyque candles in your home? Do you have a favorite scent or way to repurpose the glass? Diptyque is celebrating their fiftieth anniversary now. Head on over here to learn more about the company and enter for a chance to win one of their exclusive anniversary sets.

Happy Long Weekend

Posted on: Monday, October 14, 2013

Did you travel for the long weekend? I came across these Mark and Graham bags and thought that perhaps I need to update my weekend luggage. I'm literally still toting around my little Vera Bradley bags from high school and college.  I love the simplicity of the above choices. The monogram option is my favorite detail.

Pictured first: Canvas and Leather Weekender  Pictured Second: Canvas and Leather Tote
Below, just a few things I wouldn't mind packing

P.S. Did you take advantage of the sales this weekend? I grabbed this sweater to wear with these coated jeans and boots. Then I picked up these fun pants for work.

Operation Living Room Art

Posted on: Tuesday, October 8, 2013

Now that I've settled on a dining room rug I've turned my attention to the blank space above my white couch. Over the summer I bought and reupholstered a few vintage pieces for my new place.  I chose Thibaut and Kelly Wearstler fabrics and the room definitely has a lot of pattern!  I decided to try to offset this with a modern print in a classic color palette. Above was my inspiration image.  I thought I may be able to just do a DIY project but thought better of it and header over to Art.com
Below are a few of my selections:

I initially thought I was looking for two pieces but decided on purchasing just one on a large scale (35.5"x35.5")
This one was the winner and I snagged it for 30% off.  I really hope my vision materializes favorably!

Prada Marfa Controversy

Posted on: Monday, October 7, 2013

I first learned of the Prada Marfa art installation through Gray Malin's series of photographs.  Marfa is a town in West Texas that is known for their arts. Above, Prada Marfa stands almost 40 miles away on highway 90 in Jeff Davis County which is just outside of Valentine, TX. The free standing art installation was built by Elmgreen and Dragset in 2005.  The doors are sealed shut and the interior is filled with purses and shoes from Prada's 2005 fall collection. The building was meant to be a permanent sculpture. Recently, the Texas Department of Transportation questioned whether Prada Marfa was actually art or an advertisement.  The department ruled that Prada Marfa is an advertisement and therefore,  illegal. What is your take on the controversy? Is Prada Marfa a contemporary piece of art or do you agree that is is indeed an advertisement?  There has been quite a buzz surrounding this issue. There is a Save Marfa Facebook Page and a trending hashtag #SavePradaMarfa
You can read Gray Malin's take on the matter in this blog post.  He also includes a few outtakes from his Prada Marfa Series.

DOMINO IS BACK!

Posted on: Sunday, October 6, 2013

Christmas just came early! Domino is back with Michele Adams at the helm.
BOOM.

I've been patiently waiting for the past four years and can't wait to get my hands on a copy of the Holiday issue set to be out October 8th. You can head over to the site now to check out a few features. While there, you can shop each story with links that are directly embedded into the site. You can also shop by category. Looking for a new desk? Just head over and peruse Domino's
 curated collection.
I absolutely love this story on Ali Cayne, a Manhattan restaurateur who renovated her new West Village townhouse without the help of a decorator.
Are you as excited as I am!? Let me know if you find a copy of the issue.  I'm officially on the hunt.

This could be my fall uniform.. perfect.
Love all of the pops of color Emily Henderson used when styling the makeover of Oh Joy's studio (see full post here). Also, I keep seeing that little giraffe print popping up in various images (like this one). Too cute.
Patiently waiting for cozy sweater weather so I can bundle up. Currently coveting this little diddy.
I've set a little goal to add to my coffee table book collection. I'm thinking I will buy one new book each month. Here are a few that I "need".

Flavor Paper

Posted on: Tuesday, October 1, 2013

Mike Diamond, of the Beastie Boys, worked with Flavor Paper to create a custom wallpaper for his Brooklyn brownstone. The result: Brooklyn Toile.  Not just your average toile with bucolic scenes, but one that captivated the truth of Brooklyn.
Diamond brought in Vincent J. Ficarra and Adela Qersaqi of Revolver New York to help execute the design. At first glance it appears to be a standard toile wallpaper.  Upon closer inspection one realizes that there are vignettes of Coney Island, elevated subways, the Brooklyn Bridge, and the one and only Notorious B.I.G.
Completely blown away? Yeah, me too.
And check out one of the newest design by Dan Funderburch- Vigilant Floral
#BigBrother
I am absolutely buying and framing a sample of this. It's certainly worth heading over to Flavor Paper to check out the rest of their designs.

What do you think? Do you appreciate this modern playful take on classic designs?
