DIY Pom-Poms

Posted on: Wednesday, March 24, 2010

I helped host a baby shower this winter with a few girlfriends. One of the decorations were the above pom-poms. I learned how to make them from non other than Martha Stewart. Find directions on how to make them here.

They ended up being super cute and really festive.

It took me forever to make them all but it was well worth the effort!

Butter by Nadia: The PERFECT dress!

Posted on: Thursday, March 18, 2010

I can't say enough good things about Butter by Nadia. Her signature wrap dress can be worn countless ways. One size (2-16) fits most and is offered in a staggering amount of colors.

The versatility offered by this dress allows you to wear it to many occassions withoug feeling like you've been seen in it before. Choose a different look for each occasion. The satin wrap dress is a favorite pick for bridesmaids. That's how I first learned about the dress. However, I highly recommend checking out her other collections.

Shop Butter by Nadia here.

Price Point: 250.00-and up.

Spring
I'm so ready for warm weather and I'm dying to find some time to get out to California! My cousin just got engaged and I can't wait to celebrate! Above is what I would love to wear out to brunch for celebratory mimosas!
Happy Wednesday

Next Project!

Posted on: Tuesday, March 16, 2010

Make Roman Shades for my bedroom inspired by the ones used in Tara Guerard's nursery (designed by Angie Hranowsky)

Planning on using the above fabric from Calico Corners which looks very similar to the Rubie Green Tillinghast fabric.
I'm sure I'll end up changing my mind a million times though!

Beach Necessities

Beach Necessities
Spring break is finally here! Last year I spent the week in Florida wearing the above uniform. Roberta Roller Rabbit beach cover ups are my go-to and pretty much standard for me over the summers. They are the perfect weight and something you're not completely embarassed to walk around in after a day at the beach.

I'm always sure to pack a few Island Company Bikinis. They are so adorable and fun to mix and match.

Lastly, I need some good tunes and a fun book. Barefoot by Elin Hilderbrandt is my all time favorite beach read. I devoured it last year!

Happy Spring

DIY Painted Jars!

Kellie Collis of ada&darcy recently posted on her amazing DIY painted jars. I have seen a few blogs highlight them and I just have to share too! I was so excited about this project that I actually ran home and tried it out after work. I had a vase laying around and some extra paint from another project.

First I poured in the paint

Then I tiped the vase to let it spread. I did find that I needed a brush to help cover the entire surface area.

Then I was finished and ready to let it dry.

The entire project took less than five minutes!

Silhouette DIY

Posted on: Monday, March 8, 2010

I had a lot of fun over the weekend working on a silhouette project. I've seen them everywhere in home decor lately. I have a soft spot for silhouettes because they are the emblem for the school that I teach at. I love how they remind me of my students. So I set out to make my own. I wanted to use color to modernize the traditional black and white look. I bought two canvases and painted them a deep purple. Then I traced my silhouettes onto light blue crafting paper. I cut each out using an exato knife. My last step was to apply multi-purpose spray adhesive to the paper. I laid it over the canvas and allowed it to dry.

The finished product!
I'm not sure where I will hang them or whether or not I will frame them? Perhaps I should try to work them into a picture wall? This one may have too much color going on? Hmm.

I loved this project. So quick, and fun!
