Color Splash
As much as I'm trying to keep it simple lately, I'm just not capable. I'm still loving bright hues, floral prints, and stripes.
My favorite piece in this outfit is my new Bridier Baubles bracelet. It's a classic link piece that holds up nicely to the weight of my watch.
My skirt has the perfect hemline for work with a mirrored print that's anything but conservative.

{bracelet- c/o brider baubles check out their statement jewelry here, necklace- gorjana lovebird necklace, skirt- asos mirror floral print pencil skirt, striped tee- zara, watch- michael kors jet set

On Trend and Under Budget

I wanted to feature this outfit because it shows that you can be on trend, and take a fashion risk, without a huge monetary commitment.  Fun statement prints are all over but you don't have to have the latest designer threads to stay current.  One of my favorite places to turn to is Forever21.  I purchased my skirt and top their for $19.80 each. That's a full outfit for under $40 dollars! Mixing high and low pieces is a trick that I use all the time! This is not to say that you don't have to spend some real money on a few key wardrobe pieces. But not everything has to cost a million bucks in order to feel like a million bucks ;)

Shop The Look

nine west cork pumps (similar herehere), gorjana necklace, david yurman bracelets}

sunnies- urban outfitters, silk wrap- winter kate (similar look), striped shirt- h&m, jeans-vigoss, clutch-urban chic, cuff- house of harlow (old), necklace- boutique (similar), wedges- bannana republic

My best friend "O" and I had such an incredible weekend. We did some spring shopping, so I thought I'd show you two of my budget friendly steels. The BR shoes were 30% off and will be a staple in my wardrobe. They are cushioned and really comfortable. The jeans are from Nordstroms and were $54.00 in the BP department. I had my eye on a similar pair of Current Elliot jeans that retail for $220.00. Clearly, this purchase was a no brainer.

{many thanks to "O" for snapping pics}

It's finally starting to cool down a bit and I couldn't be happier. I love bundling up and pretending I'm back in New England!

disclaimer: yes I do believe that bright blue, brown, black, and purple "match"
also, my mittens could easily be confused as oven mitts, but I'm ok with that (thanks for pointing that out KBG).

Fall layers.
I always get hot regardless of the temperature so I'm sure to dress in layers.
Faux Fur Stole: h&m, Blazer: banana republic, Oxford: madewell campfire cargo shirt, Sunnies: urban outfitters, Jeans: jbrand, Boots: frye, campus, Bag: urban outfitters.
It's only a matter of time until my fashion focus efforts begin to morph into a dance party. Below, the flying swan. I'll spare you of the running man.
Thanks, KG, for snapping a few quick pics with my iPhone.

Update:

I love my bag!
When I purchased it I wanted a cute, inexpensive work bag that I could beat up and not care about. I'm very careful with my "investment" bags so I don't often carry them at work. There was a small pen mark on the back of the UO bag so I asked for a discount and received 15% off.
SOLD.
I generally carry quite a bit. I have used the shoulder strap without any issue; however, I tend to carry it over my forearm or by the actual handles. I love the outer envelope storage and have not had any problems with the hardware. Inside the bag there is ample room as well as three small spaces (one zippered) for key's phone etc.
I generally carry a checkbook sized wallet, sunglasses, a makeup bag, my inhaler (geek), pens, and a plan book.
I wouldn't put a laptop or too many heavy books in (but again, I don't have that need).
For what I spent, and knowing that its not real leather, I am quite happy with my purchase. I would recommend it.

Absolutely love front slits in a dress. So fun and breezy for the summer months. This piece is so old I don't think it's going too far to consider it vintage. You could easily do this to any maxi dress (there's a third slit in the back).

Thanks AH for a fun night and an impromptu FF ;)

A huge thank you to Kristen Ross of Stella & Dot for the amazing Renegade Layering Necklace! It's the perfect piece for any outfit. I chose to wear it alone in this post, but I also love layering it with other necklaces. Gold plated spikes and pave balls accent a long gold plated brass chain which is the perfect length. I love the contrast of the delicate chain and sparkling pave paired with the tough spikes. You can purchase the necklace here. Can you believe the cute packaging? I adore the box!

Be sure to check out the rest of the collection here. You can order directly online, or even host a Stella&Dot trunk show.

Kristin in an absolute joy to work with!

I love how playing with a summer scarf can change the entire tone of an outfit. You can also wrap a scarf a few times in a circle around your neck for a casual look.

sunnies: urban outfitters, dress: banana republic, scarf: urban outfitters, belt: ralph lauren, watch: michael kors, rings: h&m + forever21
ps. I love this color combo and was quick to copy it after I saw this photo a few years ago.

skirt: old navy dress worn as a skirt, shirt: american apparel, belt: jcrew, shoes: urban outfitters, hat: H&M, sunnies: urban outfitters, necklace: banana republic, rings: david yurman, house of harlow, forever21, bracelet: jcrew, watch: michael kors

My newest go-to is throwing a t-shirt or button-down over a maxi dress and turning it into a skirt. Also, I can not stop wearing this hat! I wore it with a white dress this weekend and when I walked int CVS a man said to me "town and country honey!". Still not sure if that was a complement?
