Still Trending...

Posted on: Sunday, September 30, 2012

I'm happy to see that this trend isn't going away anytime soon. Above are a few of my current favorites.
These shoes are such a staple for fall. You can treat them as a neutral and dress-up any outfit.
This shirt is so unique! I love the Peter Pan collar and the unepected block out of black an the back!
This flirty dropwaist dress with trumphet hem is perfect for fall! Throw on a leather jacket, some black pumps, and you're done.
These statement colorblocked tights are so Mod! I actually love them paired with leather shorts and the above coloblocked top!

Kate Spade is one of those brands that I'm loyal to because it brings back memories for me. My first purse ever was a classic little black Kate Spade that I saved up for in high school and still have. My next purchase was a black day planner which I brought on college recruiting trips. I took notes on each school and coach in the "projects" section, and I still use the planner today.  Once I made my decision I arrived on campus as a freshman with a black corduroy messenger bag that featured a gorgeous paisley lining (it's still in perfect condition and something I always look forward to breaking out in the fall).  Upon graduating college I bought a sleek black "interview bag" which was actually a diaper bag- but who would know (I got the job too).  Lastly, my passport is held in a little green Kate Spade case. I certainly have a soft spot for the brand and clearly, I am a sentimental packrat!

I'm loving the recent collaboration with style photographer and fashion blogger Garance DorĂ©. Above I've featured a few of my favorites from the general line and the latest capsule collection.

Hope you enjoy and Happy Weekend!

PS- Do any of your have sentimental connections to your purchases or am I alone on this one?

Chic Mommies

Posted on: Wednesday, September 26, 2012

Today I'm running around prepping for a baby shower I'm co-hosting tomorrow.  My friend is just about the chicest mommy-to-be I have every seen. She literally makes her bump this seasons cutest accessory!
She told me about a few of her favorite places to shop for maternity- one of which being Hatch. Have you seen this site?  It has on-trend clothing that can be worn before, during, and after your pregnancy.  I literally want to shop there and I have no baby plans in sight! Check it out and let me know what you think of the collection.

Above image: had to feature Gwen! The chicest Mom on the planet. I also need that background to be wallpaper in my powder room- like now.

Simple Statement Pieces

Posted on: Monday, September 24, 2012

Today I'm featureing simple color palletes used on serious statement pieces.

This spotted frock is playful and sophisticated.  The dropwaist is complimented by a deep V back.

Oh hello red peter pan collar! This silk top is perfect for the workplace paired with a black pencil skirt. It also has you covered on the weekends- just pop on some jeans and you're done.

You just can't go wrong with a little red dress but this unique neckline and flattering silhouette is perfection.  I love the conservative length paired with the flirty peplum detail.

Lastly, this top has it all: a spreadcolor paired with a front vent peplum waist. Done.

A Poll: To Fashion Focus Or Not To Fashion Focus

Posted on: Thursday, September 20, 2012

It's been a while since my last "Fashion Focus" where I show you my personal style and what I'm wearing as of late. I've mostly been posting little snapshots like these on twitter.
So I ask- is this a feature you enjoy on Chic Geek?
Let's put it to a poll:
Should I continue my "Fashion Focus" posts?

A Place For Everything And Everytying In It's Place

Posted on: Wednesday, September 19, 2012

I love reading Julie Richard's blog, Shelter. After cleaning and organizing my own home for 3+ hours I sat down to treat myself to a little blog reading. I was blown away by the jewelry organization post she shared.  I had to re-post and link to sources; this could be so helpful to others. I find jewelry to be one of the hardest things to coral and keep organized.  I hope you enjoy!

Just a few stunners I had to share with you! These necklaces are perfect for layering but can stand alone  as well.  I think all three are a nescessity.
As a lover of all things pink this blazer is pretty much the holy grail. Pair it with this feminine structured  purse and I'm in heaven (can't lie I also LOVE it in pecan).

A Classic Color Scheme

You really can't go wrong with black and white- whether it's home decor, or fashion.

I love the playful wallpaper in the first image. Perfect for a powder room or even a nursery! It's somewhat reminiscent of Albert Hadley's "Fireworks" wallpaper which I really want to use in my home (see it here). Hopefully someday....

I'm sticking to a black and white ensemble for a benefit this weekend.  I always play it a little safe when I don't know the audience- no hot pink dress for me...this time.

Wishing you all a happy weekend

The Weekend

Posted on: Sunday, September 9, 2012

images via my pinterest and here

After a hectic week it's been a relaxing weekend- just the way I like it.
I turned the air conditioning down low so I could bundle up, sipped warm lattes in the mornings, and spent time organizing my closet and getting work done. I continue to want some change with my home decor and fell in love with the above Ikat fabric. I hope to make pillows soon.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend

I had the most relaxing holiday weekend on Nantucket. I flew back late last night and had a major reality check as I sat at my desk this morning at 7am.
I stayed in the most incredible home that had all of the original Nantucket charm paired with impeccable updates. Think stunning wide plank flooring, and original cabinetry paired with upgraded counter tops and appliances.  Clean, open, understated elegance.  I was literally taking notes in my head the entire weekend! The second photo shows a little playhouse that was transformed into a tiny guest room separate from the main house.  There's just enough space for two single beds (with stunning upholstered headboards) and a large chair- pictured in the next photo.  The most breathtaking feature was the large wooden door that could be opened to look out onto the manicured lawn.  It's one of the most unique and inspiring spaces I've ever seen (in person, or print)

Heaven.On.Earth.

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday.
