OBSESSED with
I have started to make a conscious effort to attend barre class regularly. I find myself looking forward to it because it's the only time I truly disconnect and stop thinking throughout the day. I have just a few things on my mind lately (wedding, moving, job search, house hunting, current job responsibilities- eek). Barre allows me to check completely out and focus solely on my workout. It's low impact and I am incredibly sore after. The
figure method incorporates the best of Pilates, Yoga, orthopedic exercises and classical ballet technique. Muscle groups are shaped and strengthened through slow, sustained, precise movements followed by intense stretching to avoid building bulk. I've tried other barre classes but this has been the best experience I've had. I already feel my entire body strengthening.
I also secretly want to be a ballerina so the clothing involved is right in my wheelhouse. I've put together some of my recommendations below. I adore the brand
SHASHI for socks. I've found that they have the best grip and keep my feet in place the entire class (no slipping).
Go Figure turned me onto them and they offer different styles and cuts (I've featured my current favorite below). Class is HARD so I have my
Swell bottle ready to go. Believe the hype on this one. After being gifted a bottle I was shocked by how it keeps my water ice cold for the entire day!
Word to the wise- I've been told that the 25 oz perfectly fits an entire bottle of chilled wine! Last but not least is my pick for leggings-
Splits59 all the way! These tights stay put! There's nothing worse than a pair of leggings that ride up and become uncomfortable. I have a regular pair that I love and just ordered a high-waisted pair as well. If you're in the CT/NY area there are plenty of nearby Go Figure
locations. You can also find them in Carmel, CA and there's even a studio on ACK!
I added the above
t-shirt not because I would workout in it but because it's the perfect shirt to throw on over a tank after finishing class... also, it reminds me of prep school.
