Get the Look: Barclay Prime

Posted on: Wednesday, September 21, 2016

Monday night out- why not!?

My husband and I went to our favorite steak house in the Neighborhood, Barclay Prime. The atmosphere is phenomenal and I always have the best time there. One of the key elements for me besides the food is the decor and lighting. It's actually quite dim in the restaurant. You often see people using their phone flashlight to browse the menu but I LOVE it. It puts me at ease and makes me feel relaxed. You're seated in big comfy chairs and the modern vibe paired with the formal dinning experience is heaven. I thought I would try and recreate the restaurant look which is described as a contemporary library setting.

Sunday Brunch

Posted on: Sunday, September 18, 2016

A quick post on my simple Sunday brunch look featuring a few pieces that are so reasonably priced. The scarf is an investment but something I grab all the time and can elevate even the most simple ensemble. I can't wait to add sweaters back into my wardrobe and these two are high on my wish list.

Classic Decor

Posted on: Friday, September 16, 2016

As I invest in new pieces and decorate our little apartment I'm continually drawn to what I consider to be classic pieces. We won't be in this space forever and I want everything to translate into whatever our new space will be. I also want pieces to really stand the test of time and not be something that I tire of easily. I thought I would round up a few of my favorites for a post.

Beautiful glass bowls- We received a stunning assortment as wedding gifts and I just love placing fruit in them and having them as decorative pieces. Really anything by Simon Pearce falls under this "classic" category for me.

Skirted tables are something that I LOVE but presently don't have room for. In my dreams I would place one in a foyer stacked with books and a huge vase with flowers. The one above is perfect because it's neutral but not plain. The pattern gives it interest but isn't something I would tire of easily.

Seasonal pillows: I'm not a fan of "theme based decor" but I do like the idea of switching out a few accessories as the weather changes. It's a quick and inexpensive way to switch things up. The texture of the knitted pillow above feels autumnal and is only $17.99

Trays are a definite yes for me in almost every space. This hammered polished brass tray is traditional yet versatile. I would use it on a bar cart to corral bottles, place it on a coffee table, or even use it in a guest room as a nice welcoming element filled with sleepover essentials.

Gingham- yes it's having a major moment but it's still a classic look for me.

Blue and white: Just yes to all of it. Currently have my eye on this garden stool.

I'm surrounding myself with Hydrangeas as of late and it's GLORIOUS! I highly recommend fresh flowers for the home. It's a bit of an indulgence but they truly make a space feel more warm. Now that I live in the city I appreciate flowers (and my fiddle leaf fig) so much more! My go to picks are always hydrangeas or tulips because they are the least offensive to my allergies.

Mark D. Sikes' new book, Beautiful, is my next purchase for a coffee table book! I'm sure it comes as no surprise!

I just grabbed these light blue candles for my new candleholders. I'm just starting to unpack some of our wedding gifts and I love having these out to remind me of my sweet class from last year.

These barstools are at the tip top of my wishlist. They are totally my aesthetic and I think they can transfer nicely into any space that we live in.

This soma water filter has saved me from city water and the design in incredible! Half the time I want to leave it out on the counters rather than place it back in the fridge- it's so gorgeous.

Love this monogram style and think these cocktail napkins would make the perfect gift this holiday season.

Have you seen these bespoke lampshades? Check out the handmade collection here. Perfect update to any lamp- I paired the blue and white blockprint pleated lampshade with this new base.

Lastly, heads up on this blue ikat terra cotta vase currently being on sale for $119 and the round serving board is also on sale!

Fall Fashion that does not break the bank

Posted on: Monday, September 12, 2016

Yes to this- all of it! Perfect fall updates for your wardrobe that won't put you over budget! My next purchase is for sure that top left dress that comes in black and pink. It's $50 and feels very Isabel Marant so black is definitely a go for me! I'll throw my suede jacket (or leather) and some booties (these or these are my next purchase).
Done.

BRAND TO KNOW: BIG CHILL

Posted on: Thursday, September 8, 2016

Founded in Boulder, CO in 2001, Big Chill started with a plan to make the refrigerator more stylish. Inspired by vintage appliances, Orion Creamer and his uncle, Thom Vernon, created a retro style design with bold colors and modern efficiency. Over time, the company has expanded to bring era-inspired design to your kitchen. Stoves, dishwashers, and refrigerators come in 200+ color combinations.
I'm partial to the classic line. The stoves and hoods are everything I want in a design and the colors are spot-on! Head on over to Big Chill and let me know what your favorite piece is! You can also enter their kitchen design contest here to win any Big Chill appliance of your choice!

A few recent purchases and some fall trends I'm loving

It just got a lot cuter adding Rebecca Atwoods new book "Living with Pattern" I can't wait to dive into it and I'm obsessed with the way it looks- hello red edge pages! Incredible.

Fall flutter:
Bell sleeves will be everywhere this fall and I am totally on board with the 70's vibe! I grabbed this sweater and love this dress from zara.

Velvet Everything!
Velvet booties will also have a strong presence this fall. Luckily, they can be snagged at various price points. The booties above slay me. The pattern and visual interest made me think they would be way out of my league BUT they're $220!

Life's Tough- Get A Sleep Mask:
The struggle is real! I need a sleep mask and Parker Thatch has me covered! A ton of different designs and monogramming make this an essential for me.

Recent Purchases:
I can't say enough about these jeans! Perfect color for fall, totally comfortable, and priced under $100. SOLD.
Love my little leopard mules (another trend that Gucci knocked out of the park and has trickled down to all price points) and this suede jacket is going to be my fall staple.

Anthropologie: Extra 40% off Sale

I would layer this dress with a black turtleneck and throw on some booties for a fall transition look
This dropwaist shirtdress has incredible visual interest and is a cut above any solid colored look. Throw on a jean jacket and go!
Layer a tee under this crochet pullover

Madewell: Extra 30% off sale items and "right now picks" use the code: DOUBLEUP

This slim x boyfriend shirt in buffalo check is a must for me. I'll definitely pair it with my new high waisted distressed black jeans (favorite part is the released hem and the 40% off!) Or pair it with a skirt like this for a night out and this longer one for work.
Neutral pullover sweaters are a great basic for your fall wardrobe- I'm loving this one and would throw it over the buffalo check shirt.
I actually die a little for this bag- a classic hands-free crossbody that's not too big has the most perfect O ring detail.
The unique green color of these suede block heels makes them perfect for early fall and so are these red lace-up sandals.

LOFT- buy one get one 50% off no code needed

I love loft for stocking up on work clothing and accessories.
Perfect autumnal tones in this scarf and this poncho is perfect for crisp weather.
This floral bow blouse is the perfect juxtaposition piece. I'd pair with with a leather coat, distressed jeans and booties.
Have you been tying scarves around your neck this summer? I have and love this silk one for fall.

CLUB MONACO- extra 40% off sale with the code FAREWELLSUMMER
Scoop this lace dress while it's still available and this pattern-stitch sweater dress
The long sleeves on this romper mean you can still get wear our of it- also love the flounce

This classic utility jacket is a great basic for fall- pair it with a blanket scarf and you're ready for everything from the farmers market to a steeple chase!
