The Holidays Are Coming!

I am OVER THE TOP excited for the holiday season! 

We are mostly traveling to see family; however, we will have weekend guests and host a few happy hours. This is the first year that I'm going to decorate a bit and even get a tree! I love prepping our home for guests. Weather its making sure we have extra coffee mugs for slow mornings, or barware for fun evenings I like to go into the event feeling organized. Small things can make a big difference for me like having bed linens sorted (I store each set inside one of the pillowcases) or fresh flowers around the house. I've rounded up some "finishing touches" that would make my home feel complete and ready to entertain. I may actually need this recipe shaker. It's a cheat sheet for serving up the most popular cocktails. Just twist the outer sleeve to reveal each recipe. It would also make a great hostess gift.

Back to Black

This color works across the board- home decor + fashion. Here are my picks to get back to black:

The image of this kitchen stopped me in my tracks! Luckily, I recognized the Enzo Mari Apple and Pear Poster so you too can get the look. Such a bold yet simplistic piece of art. 

Not exactly black but these grey plates inspired by transferware are the perfect addition to your thanksgiving tablescape. A set of four salad plates are only $47.96 and they are both microwave and dishwasher safe.

Speaking of Thanksgiving how chic is this velvet blazer for the holiday? Emerson Fry always gets it right! Love that you can pair the blazer easily with pants, jeans, or even a silk skirt  (featured above). But, be sure to also check out the matching velvet pant. The paper bag style waist is perfection!

I have the black over the knee boots above and find them to be so versatile! I wear them with jeans, dresses, and skirts. I plan to pair them with these comfy high rise leggings from Addison Bay. They have the look of leather pants but the comfort of a legging- basically a total win!

This satin bow scrunchie is offered in three colors and will elevate any t-shirt and jeans outfit. A tee and jeans usually turns into a turtleneck or sweater around this time of year and I love that the classic white sweater above has been updated with it's on trend balloon sleeve. Another classic staple is the stadium coat and the two-toned blue and white wrap option above is MAJOR. Lastly, the REVERSIBLE puffer jacket! Two coats in one is always a good idea and I LOVE the Liberty London dark floral print. The colorway is seasonally appropriate and was inspired by a print in their archives. Take a closer look and you'll see singing birds, a mix of teeny pansies, bell flowers, and daisies. This baby is already in my cart. Remember when I mentioned the quilted reversible Tory Burch coat? Love it but think a price tag of $998 is completely BANANAS. This coat is the perfect replacement piece.

Not pictured are a few teddy coats like this color block option, and this smokey wisteria color that I would pair with these kicks. The teddy coat featured above is one that I've had for the past two years and they brought it back this season! OBSESSED with it and find if to be so warm and cozy.

Beauty Buzz

 I was on FaceTime with my sister the other day and she was straight up GLOWING! She gave full credit to this new oil she's using. It is definitely my next beauty buy. Speaking of glow, I'm on my second bottle of Pixie Glow Tonic and highly recommend it. 

I chopped all my hair off and got a Keratin treatment which was a total "mom move". I love that I can let my hair air dry and am going to try using a bit of the Bumble and Bumble surf spray for those wavy hair days.

I've read nothing but good reviews for this Waleda skin food moisturizer. People say their skin just drinks it up. With colder months ahead and harsh wind that whips through the city there is no reason not to try this TWELVE dollar cream.

MASCARA is the only makeup I really wear and have opinions about. I've been addicted to Dior Black Out because more is more when it comes to my lashes. I still love it but find that it flakes a bit and settles under my eye at times (especially during the day- worn at night theres less time for it to flake and it generally doesn't). 

My new go-to is this magic in a bottle. It gets every single teeny tiny lash and is flawless. It was given to me by my mothers friend just after I had our daughter and its my new go-to mom gift because nothing can make you feel more pulled together (when you're actually a hot mess) like a quick swipe of mascara.

*I prep my lashes prior to mascara with this lash primer and I use this growth serum. I've used it for years and consider it the holy grail because IT WORKS, and you cant beat the price compared to similar serums.

Are you shopping Blair Eadie's new collaboration at Nordstrom? Check everything out here. 

I love that the line has an accessible price point and offers such versatility. Blair has done all the work for you so its easy to mix, match, and pair accessories to create cohesive looks. I grabbed this blazer, this dress, the fun skirt pictured above, and a belt. 

If I were in an office setting I would absolutely go for the suiting looks. The plaid is a timeless print updated by a modern silhouette. The lilac has the same menswear inspired vibes but the super girly color creates such a fun juxtaposition! The blazers are perfect broken up and paired with denim. I'd also pair the plaid with my black coated denim, or any pair of leather pants.

I have my eyes on these shoes but just cant decide between silver or navy!

Loving the new Mignonne Gavigan x St. Frank collection - especially the Kuba Scarf necklace. I have two necklaces and always get the nicest compliments when I wear them (especially this versatile pearl one)

May update our entryway table to this little guy. I would just change out the nob to this.

Back to school vibes: Bedroom Refresh

Back to school was always exciting for me in college because I LOVED decorating my different rooms. We all had singles so there was no coordinating with a roommate. Seeing all of the back to school posts lately has me thinking that I need a little bedroom refresh myself. This is the direction I'm headed in. 

I just grabbed this bamboo side table and this quilt. 

I'm sold on using these sconces once we are in a "forever space" 

I had this book for years, then gifted it to my sister. I think it's time for another copy!

Also obsessing over these plates and presently have four on hold here. Love the idea of hanging them on a wall.

Happy Friday!

I've been on an organizational kick lately and am trying to keep things neat and streamlined. I grabbed these cabinet turntables to organize products below the bathroom sinks, and I've loved them so far. I can just spin them around to grab whatever product I need. It's organized, and out of sight! If you were to have one out on the counter I would try this marble option. (I use a blue and white small tray to display everyday products like this, this, this, this and this) If you're interested you can check out all of my favorite beauty products here.

With fall coming, transitional clothing is the smart buy. I just grabbed this 50 dollar option to wear now and later pair with these boots (LOVE) these booties (can walk all day in) and my printed scarf / cashmere scarf.
I'm also loving this drape front coat in white, this mohair blend sweater (under $100 & would pair nicely with white jeans), and this under $90 option with beautiful sleeves and an open zig zag eyelet stitch knit.

Currently Collecting

I really truly love my dishes! I started collecting the country estate and the bamboo pattern years ago, before I was even married. In the last year or so I have acquired a set of green cabbageware plates. I stumbled upon this instagram account and was so impressed by the display images of her similar wares. Ingrid keeps everything in a hutch and has beautiful pieces. I would love to have either open shelving or a nice hutch to display my dishes in. Are you a collector too?

A few fun collaborations that are currently happening:

Whitney, of Sonnet James designed this Wimbledon inspired mat for Gathre (I was sold at soft pink; then, I noticed it is actually a playfully interactive tennis court!)

As mentioned here,  Mark D. Sikes has teamed up with OKL to house his complete online collection! I have my eye on this bust, and this charcoal figure study.

Sister Parish Stationary!? YAAAAS. The decor power house has teamed up exclusively with Dempsey & Carroll. The cards can be personalized with either your name or monogram. The blue and white serendipity correspondence cards are perfection!

Other thoughts:

I "need" this classic tablecloth for outdoor dining. Only problem- I live in a city high rise. Wish they offered it in a round :(

These baskets are next on my "to purchase" list. Perfect for storing toys and visually pleasing so I don't mind seeing them in my main living space.

Lastly, this BEABA machine is MAJOR! I adore it and actually enjoy making food for my daughter! I am not skilled in the kitchen (great at setting the table though) so the simplicity and effectiveness of this tool is great. It's also super cute (we have pink/rose gold) so I don't mind leaving it out on the counter. The only criticism I heard from friends about the machine is that the original didn't make large enough batches to freeze. Because of this I went with the double. I like that I can make two different foods at once. Right now, we are not really at the point where I need to freeze anything. When/if we do freeze food these have been recommended. I'm also going to grab some of these reusable food pouches.
