Shop Amber Lewis

Posted on: Monday, April 30, 2012

I've been a fan of Amber Lewis' design aesthetic for a while.  Her bright, eclectic, boho-chic decor feels welcoming and lived-in.  Lucky for us, her newest venture has been an online shop. It's brimming with pillows, blankets, and rugs that will surely breathe life into your existing decor. I'm currently lusting over the one of a kind quilts- and am having trouble deciding on one.  Below are a few of my favorite items from the shop.

Head on over to view all of the goodies.

Room to Runway

Posted on: Tuesday, April 24, 2012

I love the soft color palette in this room. Pinks, tans, and browns are one of my favorite color schemes. The gold accents and hits of fresh green leaves add visual interest.
Starting from the ground up the wedge sandals are directly translated from the natural fibers of the jute rug. The soft hit of pink from the curtains is found not only on the sandals but also in the sweet scallop edge shorts.  I kept the silk shirt neutral as an homage to the wall color and couches.  The sweet gold lovebird bracelet pulls from the gold accents on the coffee table and curtain rod. Then we finish with the statement pieces. Pulling from the natural, lush greenery I've accessorized the outfit with a "splurge" and a "save" piece. The splurge is non other than the Philip Lim "Pashli" satchel. I have a weakness for green bags! The "save" is the  Boca Grande statement necklace from Bridier Baubles. This shop is an absolute treasure trove of highly stylized pieces with friendly price tags. If you haven't checked out Briedier Baubles yet, head on over now!

Fashon Focus- Spotted

On Trend and Under Budget

I wanted to feature this outfit because it shows that you can be on trend, and take a fashion risk, without a huge monetary commitment.  Fun statement prints are all over but you don't have to have the latest designer threads to stay current.  One of my favorite places to turn to is Forever21.  I purchased my skirt and top their for $19.80 each. That's a full outfit for under $40 dollars! Mixing high and low pieces is a trick that I use all the time! This is not to say that you don't have to spend some real money on a few key wardrobe pieces. But not everything has to cost a million bucks in order to feel like a million bucks ;)

Room to Runway

Posted on: Tuesday, April 17, 2012

I've mentioned before that fashion and decor are hopelessly intertwined in my mind. I'm trying out a new little series "Room to Runway" where I'll translate a physical space into a fashion ensemble. Above is my first interpretation.
I immediately was drawn in by the juxtaposition of the neutral palette with pops of color. The major focal point is the over sized Harland Miller print above the fireplace (check out similar prints by Harland Miller here). This element is translated into the statement skirt (with additional pops of color in the shoes and necklace to maintain visual interest). The room's chandelier is mimicked by the silhouette of the bib necklace. The black fireplace and chair legs anchor the image so I chose a pair of primarily black flirty shoes to do the same for the outfit. The watch, T, and bag are kept neutral to play on the wall color, fireplace mantel, flooring and upholstery.

What do you think of the new series? If you do a "Room to Runway" let me know- I'd love to check it out!

Clare Vivier- Card Cases

Posted on: Thursday, April 12, 2012

Clare Vivier hit a home run with these chic business card cases
I can't wait to purchase one! I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Chic Geek cards and I couldn't bare to store them in something stuffy! These strike a nice balance. A classic silhouette and practical leather material is offset by an unexpectedly chic punch of color- now I just need to choose one. I'm thinking pink...
Check them out here $66
Hope you all have a great weekend

Put A Little "Prep" In Your Step

Posted on: Tuesday, April 10, 2012

I absolutely adore the color palette in the above image. The blue tufted couch, yellow chair and purple hydrangea's immediatly reminded me of color combinations I had recently seen in in Hadleigh's spring line of Embroidered H Gentelman Linen Loafers. Fashion and decor are so intertwined in my mind I thought... why not mix them up in a post? Isn't it remarkable how the color palette's mimic one another? Not only do I want to live in the above space, but I also want to rock the below shoes. Such a fun punch of color for spring with the perfect linen fabric

Simple Selections For A Spring Soiree

Posted on: Monday, April 9, 2012

Happy Monday!
I looked ahead at my schedule for the month and was happy to realize that I have a few upcoming parties and events to attend. I love getting dressed for evenings out during this time of year. I want to feel comfortable- so I often turn to maxi skirts and dresses. It can get chilly in the evening so the length works nicely. After a dreary winter, I'm anxious to infuse more color into my evening attire. Above are a few looks I would be happy to hit the town in.

My "Carrie" Moment

Posted on: Wednesday, April 4, 2012

I stopped in my tracks the moment I saw these shoes. The shape, studs, heel height... everything is perfect! They feel edgy yet classic at the same time. I think people will have one of two reactions: LOVE or hate! Clearly, I'm obsessed.
Would you rock them? I think Carrie would.

Look For Less- House Beautiful

Posted on: Monday, April 2, 2012

Have you seen the cover image on House Beautiful? It's right up my alley. I love the soft colors and natural textures. Visually, it's perfect but but as a living space I would take out the two extra center chairs and add an bench (like this one that matches the lumbar pillow) along the right side. A friend texted me saying it was exactly the type of style she'd like to have in her home. I did some research and pulled items that will help you create the look for less.
