Bang for Your Buck!

I used to think that zebra was tacky. As I explore more design concepts I've realized that there is definitely a place for zebra print. I especially love the bold statement it makes as a rug. I don't know if I could ever have it in my living room but I would use it in an office. I also have seen it used in a nursery and surprisingly, I loved it.

I've been doing some research and have found an awesome 5'x 7' zebra rug for only $68 at Urban Outfitters. I would start with this to see if I could live with such a bold print. If I was really ready to commit I would go for the one carried by West Elm. This rug is more of an investment, priced at $279.00 for a 5'x 8'.

Talk about bang for your buck! Check our this Alisha Ottomen Bench from Walmart priced at: $79.88! I wish I had room for this piece in my apartment!

I've decided to slowly ease this look into my life starting with a zebra print sleep mask. Yes, I use sleep masks...come on, they're awesome!

Baby It's Cold Outside...

Comfy Cozy by chic geek featuring Oscar de la Renta accessories

When it's one of those mornings where I just keep hitting the snooze button I sometimes need to dress up to get myself motivated for the day. Felling comfy cozy and thinking you look cute can really put some pep in your step. Wishing I was sporting the above look today (with tights of course). Luckily, I was able to come up with something not too shabby from my own closet ;)

Turquoise foo dogs add such a fun playful element to your home decor. Yes they're done ALL the time, but I still like them. I've seen them for upwards of 200 dollars at high end boutiques. So not worth it. My best friend found a killer pair at TJ Maxx for cheap cheap! I found my pair on ebay.

Hunters or Bunters?

Everyone knows about Hunter boots. They have cornered the market when it comes to cute rain and snow boots. The iconic green Hunter boots are shown above. Until recently I just could not get on the Hunter boot bandwagon. Then, my little sister L.C. (arbiter of all things cool) introduced me to Bunters. (Baby Hunter boots-our made up name). We both are only 5'4" and the regular Hunter boots were just too overwhelming for our small frames.

As you can see, the Bunters are much shorter and super cute! I finally got my baby Bunters for Christmas. I was soo excited, and have been romping around in them since Santa dropped them off. It is so nice having an alternative to the original Hunter boot.

Pantone, as it is today, was founded in 1962, when the company—at the time a small business that manufactured color cards for cosmetics companies—was bought by Lawrence Herbert, who had been an employee since 1956. He immediately changed its direction, developing the first color matching system in 1963.

The idea behind the PMS is to allow designers to ‘color match’ specific colors when a design enters production stage—regardless of the equipment used to produce the color. This system has been widely adopted by graphic designers, reproduction and printing houses for a number of years now.

Pantone colors are described by their allocated number (typically referred to as, for example, ‘PMS 130′). PMS colors are almost always used in branding and have even found their way into government legislation (to describe the colors of flags).

My Imaginary Guest Bedroom

I wish I had a guest bedroom to decorate I would have so much fun deciding on the decor. Unfortunately, "reality bites" so I decided to create my own guest bedroom above. I think a bedroom should be calming yet interesting. I love the punch of turquoise. And the headboard... seriously? What a statement piece.

Jonathan Adler on Newbury!

Hello Lover!

I could not leave Newbury Street without hitting up Jonathan Adler! Like a complete geek I took tons of pictures in the store. I kept asking my friend if she was embarrassed by me? Luckily she was fine and allowed me to ooh and ah over everything. His store is killer! Everywhere you turn you're faced with amazing color combinations, bold design philosophy, and beautiful pairings of modern as well as traditional pieces.

Needlepoint Pillows

Jonathan Adler takes what can be perceived as a stuffy upper crust look and breathes new life into it with these bright colors. He offers a design your own option for his pillows, rugs, and tote bags. I ordered a monogram "C" pillow with a light and dark blue color combination. The colors are inversed on the opposite side which makes it versatile. The pillow will be hand made in Peru by a woman named Charro. It should arrive in eight to ten weeks. So excited!

I'm seeing the ram lamp everywhere lately. I apprecite the look, but don't think it would work in my apartment. It's just too specific. Perhaps it would work in a man's office?

Well hello "Le Charlote" !

I absolutely, positively ADORE these beaded bib necklaces by Roarke New York. The collection debuted in 2009 and was created by former Bergdorf Goodman buyer Laetitia Stanfield and designer Migonne Gavigan. Their collaboration resulted in inception of the "Le Mairis" collection. Offering necklaces, bracelets, headpieces, and ties this duo has surely made their mark. Sassanova of Baltimore just started carrying these necklaces. You can find them there, or shop online at Roarke. The price for the "Le Charlote" necklace is pretty steep. Makes me wish I had a fairy godmother! However, the "Charo4" provides the same beaded chiffon look. The necklace hangs lower (with a 24 inch neck opening) and is more affordable priced at $210. You can see the necklace pictured below on the left.
