#organized

Posted on: Wednesday, March 27, 2013

This isn't a glossy closet in a million dollar home; but rather, an impeccable approach to function that's attainable for the average girl. This space is large (sorry NYC'ers) but the approach can easily be transferred to a smaller scale. Don't want to riffle through shoe boxes? Snap a pic and tape it to the outside! Hate shoe boxes... opt for these clear shoe drawers which are designed to securely stack while providing high visibility.  They are sized for shoes but you could easily store baubles, scarves, bikini's.. you name it! Do you have any organizational tips or tricks? Do share!

One skirt two looks

Posted on: Tuesday, March 19, 2013

Shop the look by clicking the images below

My first thought when I saw the skirt was "hello spring!"  I went for that vibe and color palette with the first look. Soft and flirty for warm weather.
At second glance I decided the skirt could be the perfect piece to juxtapose with heavier, bolder choices.  When paired with the right accessories it takes on a whole new life.  I selected the leather top for it's texture and sassy vibe. Then, I paired a heavy shoe featuring a thick stripe and chunky stacked heel. Stilettos and thin stripes wouldn't hold up to the leather or the feeling I'm trying to evoke.  I added two simple light necklaces to stack, which allows the top and shoes to be the focus of the ensemble.
Which look is more you? I'd wear both... clearly.

Love the display of this little Sella McCartney number in Alison Chemla's Coveteur tour.
This dress is a plausible, albeit time consuming, DIY.  Just find a white dress, black grosgrain ribbon, and sew on the bows.
Would you re-create this look?

Furbish

Posted on: Thursday, March 14, 2013

Do you shop Furbish? It's a little online treasure.
Above, my current spring favorites; but do head over and browse the shop, there's so much to see!

1. This cabana print must be added to my gallery wall. Absolute perfection!
2. This acrylic stapler is so chic... later swigline, you've been replaced.
3.  It's not going too far to say that I LOVE this hand-block printed table cloth. 100% cotton makes it machine washable and fuss-free. Perfect for picnics outside. Speaking of picnics these napkins pair perfectly!
4. This ceramic berry basket is not only eco friendly, but aesthetically pleasing on your spring tabletop- no plastic please!
5/6.  These pillows are the fastest way to switch things up and bring a little spring into your home decor. The soft yet interesting color palettes of the pink dots and blue insignia pillows pair nicely.
7. Not to be forgotten, a little spring bling.  The yellow and green stones of this necklace would be a perfect go-to whether its with a grey tee or a chambray oxford.
8. Can you look at this little guy and not be instantly happy? My sister loves elephants so naturally I have a total soft spot for them too. This shiny gold elephant is also offered as a rhino and giraffe. I can see these anywhere. A single animal on a desk or as a group in a baby nursery.
9. I couldn't not include this watercolor notecard set.  I've always been a fan of snail mail. It's a bit of a lost art these days. I like a nice email as much as the next gal, but nothing brightens my day more than a handwritten card hidden inside a stack of monthly bills.

Happy Almost weekend!

No, I'm not on a tropical vacation right now but a girl can dream.  If I was I'd happily prance off to cocktails and dinner wearing this ensemble.  Little prep, little edge, little too busy... perfectly me.
Happy Wednesday Loves. Would you rock this look?

Shoot it to me straight...

Posted on: Tuesday, March 12, 2013

I feel like my design aesthetic has been all over the map lately.... and then this happened.
I saw these curtains and DIED.
Am I having some sort of weird  80's Laura Ashley whiplash or are these curtains absolutely incredible!? Have I lost touch with reality? I see a jute rug, my crisp white couches, and suddenly invision my living room feeling so fresh and beachy.
Even worse... dare I admit that I like them best in PINK? I thought I had moved away from the uber girly "preppy" decor scheme and now I've been sucked right back down the rabbit hole. Do you agree? Are these phenomenal, or do I need a harsh reality check that this fabric is only acceptable for ladies over 80 and girls under 12.
Shoot it to me straight... I can take it.
Maybe a trip to Nantucket would cure me... just sayin'.

I'm definitely thinking spring and Anthropologie is killing it with these easy breezy dresses.  Perfect for a wedding, or cocktails; I'd wear these anywhere! I don't think you have to be a glamazon (read tall) to pull off these looks. You can always adjust the length.  In a time where skin is in and less is more- these dresses feel so sophisticated. Would you opt for a long dress ever?

Here are my styling recommendations. Click the picture to be taken straight to the dress:

How could you have anything other than perfect slumber and relaxation in this space? Although formal, the color palette of soft blue's and white paired with the natural sisal rug makes it feel livable rather than stuffy. I love the room set against the black and white striped awning over the porch. How could you ever go to work? I'd sleep, sip tea, read, and be completely unproductive.
Hope you all had a relaxing weekend
