Dogtown and Z-Boys?

Posted on: Thursday, July 28, 2011

How incredible is the above skating picture?
It instantly reminded me of the documentary about the pioneering Zephyr skating team from the 1970's, Dogtown and Z-Boys. I think the photograph is from it? If you haven't seen the film, I highly recommend it! I WISH I could skate.
Have a lovely weekend!

Absolutely love front slits in a dress. So fun and breezy for the summer months. This piece is so old I don't think it's going too far to consider it vintage. You could easily do this to any maxi dress (there's a third slit in the back).
(belt: urban outfitters bdg, bag: forever21, watch: michael kors, dress:autumn moon)

Thanks AH for a fun night and an impromptu FF ;)

Whether it's bold bright facades or soft weathered hues, I LOVE COLOR.

DIY Chevron Picnic Blanket

Posted on: Wednesday, July 20, 2011

Are. You. Kidding.
How ridiculous is this picnic blanket? I found it on the glitter guide tumblr and went straight to Twig&Thistle for the DIY details.
The blanket is actually a fabric drop cloth from Home Depot ($6.98). The best part is that it's backed with plastic! So ideal for outdoors.
I recently went to a movie that was shown on the hill at the top of my street. A huge screen was mounted below on a building. Everyone sat along the hill on blankets enjoying not only the movie but also the spectacular view of the harbor. I can't wait to go back and I simply MUST have this in tow.
For more details, visit Kathleen's post on Twig & Thistle.

Emily Ruddo's Home

LA based designer, Emily Ruddo's home was recently featured in High Gloss magazine. I'm particularly drawn to her living/dining room. My two favorite elements are the above Wing chairs with Ikat fabric from Quadrille China Seas, and the fuscia dining room chairs with white piping.
You can see more of Emily's work on Armonia Decors website, or on her blog, harmony@home.

Crushing on the Cannon Rebel and the border stripe camera strap by Union.
For me, half of the fun is just thinking about a new purchase. Do any of you have a digital SLR? Any recommendations? I definitely want something easy, that I can grow with over time.

The iPhone obsession is in full effect.
Had a great day on the beach and am looking forward to posting soon on my best friends wedding weekend!

Safe travels on your honeymoon Mr. & Mrs. D!

Completely smitten with these two dresses from Anthropologie. The first is perfect for a summer wedding. I would wear the second caftan for drinks after a long day at the beach.

Quick update

Posted on: Wednesday, July 6, 2011

Crazy busy and just got a new iphone! So excited, but sad to have lost my bbm. I immediately downloaded Gadabout+Instagram. Any other fun aps you can recommend?

Also, I've tried a version of the turband. I like it best when my hair is up in a bun.

Would you? Could you?

What do we think about the turband? Would you wear it?

A huge thank you to Kristen Ross of Stella & Dot for the amazing Renegade Layering Necklace! It's the perfect piece for any outfit. I chose to wear it alone in this post, but I also love layering it with other necklaces. Gold plated spikes and pave balls accent a long gold plated brass chain which is the perfect length. I love the contrast of the delicate chain and sparkling pave paired with the tough spikes. You can purchase the necklace here. Can you believe the cute packaging? I adore the box!

Be sure to check out the rest of the collection here. You can order directly online, or even host a Stella&Dot trunk show.

Kristin in an absolute joy to work with!
